Wings and a Wand

4/15/2023 – Most people think it is the spring season, but I refer to it as testing season in education. It’s that time of year when all public schools are focused on testing whether it is the SAT or the EOC; the ELA STAAR or the Math STAAR; and for our EB Learners – the TELPAS. We’ve gone from different acronyms and scantrons to different versions and online. Nothing has really changed stress wise for teachers or for students which still saddens me. When a campus is based on one testing session per student in one window of time, is it a real measure of the learning?
