9/18/23 – Wagner’s discussion on his 7 skills and in particular this younger generation’s inability to write with detail, voice, and persuasion using analytical thinking addresses the need behind my Action Research Plan. This need is also comparable to Galinsky’s 7 Life skills where one needs the ability communicate well.

On my campus and throughout the state, we need our elementary school students to grow in their speaking ability to express themselves in detail which, based on research studies, will correlate into increasing their writing ability. For example, expressing themselves while speaking and listening to that expression in their recordings will show them how to add voice in their writing, too.

Through gathering data in my Action Research Plan on exercises and activities that enable students to grow their speaking ability by recording their responses, and using their responses to support a typed response, I hope to see progress in both of these TELPAS proficiency domains for our EB students. I also hope to see all students involved in the Action Research Plan as a classroom increasing in their ability to answer open-ended questions on STAAR with more expression and detail, too.
