8/31/23 – Thinking about lag and lead measures in my other coursework for my innovation plan has helped me think more about gathering data that supports and improves my plan. If I can’t show success through data, my plan will not have the buy-in for my participants and my administration that I require (McChesney, et al,, 2021).

The topic of my action research will center around how Blended/Personalized Learning supports the learning needs of Emergent Bilinguals. My study will look at the effectiveness of specific Blended/Personalized Learning components on learning outcomes for Emergent Bilinguals (Mertier, 2022).

I plan to create a study using both quantitative and qualitative data because a mixed approach will provide the well-rounded results that I need to gauge the effectiveness of these specific Blended/Personalized Learning components. This data will also gauge the effectiveness of my innovation plan. This is why I believe the mixed methods approach is the best approach if you can use both types of data for your action research. At this point, I plan to use numerical score results from assessments along with surveys containing open ended response items and scaled measurement responses as my data points (Mertier, 2022).
