Wings and a Wand

3/24/24 – When people ask me how I am this time of year, I explain that it’s not Spring – it’s Testing Season for those of us in Education. As soon as I completed my Master’s of Education Degree in December, I rested over the holidays and dove into training for the upcoming rounds of testing. First, there has been the testing of our EB population with TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System). Amongst this testing, there were the Interim Testing sessions offered by the state in ELA, Math and Science (5th only in Elem.). Then, in the next few weeks, we will have the official state STAAR (State of Texas Assessement of Academic Readiness) testing in the same subject areas of the Interims (a fancy word for benchmark testing), As educators, we will then “come up for air” in May along with the flowers that come up after April showers.
