11/28/2025 – The holiday season is when memories come to mind that are bittersweet especially if it is the first one since you have lost one close to your heart. This season has me fondly remembering my dad and how he loved a good homecooked meal of turkey with all of the traditional sides. There has also been a deeping of his loss.
After a harrowing car accident with a semi-truck last month a few weeks before his birthday, I missed him more than ever. He would have been so concerned, so comforting, and so loving. There is something about the precious care of a parent that stays in one’s heart forever, even after the tables have turned, and you were giving the care at the end.
Celebrating his birthday without him was difficult, but it was fitting that his stone etching reflecting his NASA career was completed over his special weekend. He would have loved it!
