Character-based Text Talks
Text Talk lessons are a researched-based, effective method of presenting vocabulary acquisition within a read aloud text (Beck and McKeown, 2001). My character trait based text talk is utilizeed to support social emotional learning while teaching Tier 2 vocabulary in a read aloud setting with students.
Each of my text talks focuses on a Character Pillar of either Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, or Citizenship as a part of the Character Counts! framework.
