07/10/26 – Honestly, I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was. I was really excited to go on a trip that was actually “work” for me, but just fun for family who tagged along. While packing, I realized that I was looking forward to learning something new, and let’s face it, if the presentation was dry, I could always work on something else while listening.
However, “Unplugged Storytelling” wasn’t boring. It was interesting! It took my love of a good story and taught me how to pseudocode it. It merged RLA with Technology in an engaging way, and just like it says, there was no computer involved. However, one does have to utilize computational thinking with the work. The process is a great way to help struggling writers in your classroom in today’s tech environment. Also knowing that what is created could eventually become a computer program is a sweet incentive for many reluctant writers.
As a STEM Instructional Coach, I look forward to sharing this process with my RLA teachers who need activities in their content area that incorporate STEM. This is one that works!
